According to the European Commission, Europe produces 9 tons of electronic waste each year and this figure is on the rise. By 2020, it is estimated that 12 Million tons of appliances will be thrown out. The European Parliament's reform calls for goals that better reflect national markets in order to harmonize the wide gaps between Member States.
